"For more stubborn dirt, a cotton bud with a very small amount of soapy water can be used, but make sure you wipe the area again with a second bud with just water on it, and then dry immediately.
The cotton buds must not be too wet, so squeeze them very well before use."

hopefully that yellow is just nicotine, so might come up a treat ;)

Nicotine is colorless...what leaves a yellow film is tar.

Yuck. I've seen it before and hate it worse every time it shows up, and that's without being allergic to tobacco smoke. Good old oxidation is one thing, but tar is destructive.

Recently my passion has been quelled by Google lens, I never find the gems I used to and I'm sure it's down to Google lens for both sellers finding out what they have before they list and the trade using it to identifying lots that they might have passed on before. Really what I'm trying to say is I haven't bought a antique in months :( As for the the plate, I think it's all been said, Egyptian or Moroccan 1960's-1980's tourist piece but amazing work, not ivory, camel bone and mother of pearl. These are often far more crude than yours, who ever bought it paid a little more to get a good one. One day pieces like these will be collected with a passion as I collect Indian pieces that are 100 years older. BTW thanks to my well meaning friends who buy me presents thinking these are what I collect I have quite quite a collection of 1960's-1980's Egyptian or Moroccan tourist pieces now ;)

The genuinely old stuff is either not there, or priced so high we have to hit orbit before we catch up.

I was once in the office of a hospital president that had frogs of all sorts all over it. I said, Let me guess. You had 2 so someone decided you had a collection? He said, No, I had 1.

I'd bring the lot along to my annual mammogram and leave them. Or something. You can bet they'd walk off with those hitting the Hot Flash zone! I've done similar with jewelry and it all went away.
