I'd like any information about this desk. It was said to be in this home between 1904 and 1939. What kind of desk is it? What is the style? When was it likely made? Thanks.

Empire revival style. Early 20th century, up to about 1920. Slant or drop-front desk. Sometimes called a ladies' secretary. Looks to be refinished ribbon mahogany.

the scratches where the locking bars are jointed , seem to suggest lamination..

Would that also be called a veneer? Or something else.
