I am sorting jewelry to sell and this has been in my costume pile for years. I cleaned it today and tested it on the Presidium. I don't have testing acids, I take things to my jeweler for verification. I am thinking 9 or 10k gold; it was a mess before cleaning. It is still dark on the metal in some areas. Thanks. Outdoor light for all but one picture.

60's 70's style, I often see them in this type of design, most are 9ct in the UK sometimes they have full hallmarks hence the dating is fairly easy. Does look like citrine, if it has that toffee tone in real life it's probably heat treated amethyst to make it into citrine.

Thanks. The side step-up style made me think retro or Deco. Retro jewelry is my favorite style.

I think it’s earlier, as in pre war. The post war ones are usually marked. It’s also small.

So do I, and smaller sizes are usually older.

I've never seen one like this with a pre war hallmark, and I have seen a lot. They are often marked 9ct, but in the post war style mark, at least for UK ones.

Beautiful ring. Those graduated stepped shoulders look Art Deco to me. Art Deco rings often had those big rectangular stones.
I like the way the stone is mounted with the claws over the corners. Those are the most vulnerable parts of the stone, now well protected.

Thanks. If it's costume, somebody put a lot of work into it.

I think it is gold, and probably a higher caratage than you think.

Most Madeira citrine is heat treated amethyst.

It's made like a real one; the shank is rounded and the setting "goes in" on the back. Odd though that they didn't mark it.

There’s an awful lot of British stuff not marked.

Some old American bits weren't marked either, but anything imported now has to be. Then again, an ugly Zodiac piece in a junk bag was 10k with no marks at all. Very strange, but go figure.

I think the mark, if gold, could have been sized out. It's 5 3/4.
I will let you know when I found out. I just found out my estate jeweler was robbed today.
