    Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me figure out this little lidded bowl.
Smal at 4 1/2" diameter. Applied twisted handles.
there is the calligraphy on the front, but the only character google would bring up is the one on the right. Now in Japanese it translates to "hot water". And in Chinese it translates to "Soup". Interested in hearing any and all thoughts on this.

A guess...Chinese, an' newer. Pretty odd that it isn't marked, imo.

Given the glaze and general aesthetic it looks more Japanese than Chinese.

From my experiences trying to translate hand signed Japanese marks on pottery, I think the symbol that looks like an upside down capital T means mountain. It's very soft and swirly compared to how they are usually drawn.

The swiped on white glaze I think is Shino. There is a different word for it if it's swiped on with a brush or fingers! Which I have forgotten and have lost all my research.

Otherwise I would add only that pinched or altered pot might be good keywords.

It's Japanese. Yes, the right character is "soup" in Chinese, followed by "no" (Japanese apostrophe) and leftmost is "yama" (mountain). Perhaps the name of a mountain (Mount Water) or a mountain of soup  lol
