A region with few possibilities at the time. Not an ethnic region or rural Europe, but a blacksmith in 'the back of beyond' of Australia or New Zealand is a possibility.

Chrysoberyl would be my guess too, but with the wear it looks like one fresh out of the ground.

I'd leave it the way it is; it can only look like a "dug" piece once. The abraded stone is part of its history. If you want to wear it, I'd get the ouchie part fixed but leave the rest. The ring has been there, done that, and earned that wear and tear.

I have put the ring on (big hands so only fits my pinkie, though it is a good fit) and you can't really feel the repair when worn. Though I will admit it dosent look comfortable from the photos.

Men often wear these signet type rings on their pinky, so that's perfect.

From one detectorist to another, awesome find!!! I’ve found 7 or 8 gold rings. I don’t think I’ve found any that date before early 20th century. I look forward to the day I do!!

Unrelated to the ring itself, but your pictures are really good. Are you just using a cell phone camera?

I’d gladly purchase that uncomfortable ring for $75 plus the cost of shipping it to me
