Mrs. Claus found a sleigh for sale in an old barn at an estate sale today. Talked out of it by her son, they came home and she agitated enough that he's bringing her back in the pickup truck.

Hopefully, no one bought it in the meantime! I promise to post before and after pictures. It does need work, but it's bargain basement price.

It is probably archaic, but my Grandfather and Grandmother would use the term "furniture" for anything that "furnished" a place or space or purpose. In other words, the fireplace furniture would include the garniture, the tools, the fender, the dogs and the scuttle. The bed furniture would include the curtains, the curtain rings, the bolsters, the linens, the coverlet, etc. What ever you needed to furnish a bedstead for use. The sideboard was furnished with fitted drawers for flatware, the new (1941) refrigerator came with refrigerator furniture - glass storage containers.

So if you can define the space, or the use, you can call a sleigh "furniture"..........

so there - I have feebly furnished the furniture folly from family...................

LOL, OK, i'll bite! You can call it furniture if you wish but from over here the best i could call it would be transportation.

Would she need a new red and green porphyry garniture for that furniture?

I would say no. The modern version might be parking a motorcycle in your living room. You could sit on it, but it's primary purpose is transportation, so calling it "furniture" is a stretch.

In December I'll take a photo of me sitting in my refurbished sleigh. It's going to be a prop for pictures with the little kiddles.

At the Gathering of the Santas this May, there was a guy doing 3D photographs. Three weeks later, we got little 'action' figures of ourselves. We get 50 or 60 Santas and Mrs. Claus's from all over the country.

;). We had to stand in a circular booth and little cameras flashed all around. I would imagine, yes, it was a 3D printer. I wasn't sure what to expect so it was kinda cool when I opened the box. Somehow I thought it was going to be a photo that came with those special glasses like in the movies.
