Is this a bookmark or something else?

I vote for R. In Gothic font, the lower part of the B does not stick out from the line that connects to the upright part of the letter.

 

Well, this is a bit tough as looking at various Gothic alphabets, it could be either.

 

Ya...on 2nd look...I wouldn't want to reach into my pocket and come up with bleeding fingers.................
