DSC_9207.JPG DSC_9208.JPG DSC_9209.JPG DSC_9210.JPG I've had similar needle cases but this one has what looks like dried beeswax in one end. And that makes it too short inside for needles.

    It's 2" long overall.

Was it for something else? Or was it just for wax storage?

I collect sewing things and I haven't seen anything like that.
    I don't think it's a needle case...
If I figure it out I'll post :)

    No not snuff :)
I don't think it's a waxer either, I have waxers and they don't look like that.

Wax case for waxing thread. It keeps the thread from fraying when beading, etc..

How would you pass the thread through though?

You hold the thread down with you thumb and pull it through between your thumb and the wax. My grandmother had one of these. I used to have beeswax in a small tin for the same purpose, and then decided it was too much bother.

I have the little Victorian ones that are like a small reel or bobbin but haven't seen one like that.
    It's very sweet :)

I like to sell sewing things. They're mostly small and easy to ship. :D

Yes and sell very well too...
Prices here in the UK are through the roof for nice old sewing items.
