    neiger 1.jpg neiger 2.jpg Hi

Completely new to jewelry but I was wondering if this scarab necklace was a genuine neiger brothers and dates to the 20s or 30s?
The scarabs seem to look like other examples and the clasp looks old and period of the time.
it is unmarked (as is so many Neiger jewelry) but if anyone could shed any light it would be a great help!

    I think its lovely nonetheless

Hoooom. The beads might be, but the overall design doesn't quite look it. Let me think.

Thanks for the replies! Let me know if you find anything out. I dont mind so much if it isnt neiger but I would like it to be from the 20s or 30s and not later (I am an art deco collector) :)

Lots of joolies here and I'm not one. Just saying that beads can be restrung, so the beads could be one period (or several) and the configuration something else. No idea if that applies here - just a possible scenario.

We Americans don't see enough Neiger pieces to become experts on them, but it's not screaming at me. If the beads are restrung without their individual knows and with a different clasp it could be fooling me.

I don’t think that clasp is Neiger but I’m no expert.

I think you're dead right on the clasp. They're usually jump rings or sometimes foldover. I do think, now, it's been put together.

Assuming it has been re strung with oringal beads would this effect value greatly or will it still have value on its attractiveness?

Are the beads stone or glass or what, please, FlameEmber? :joyful:

The beads are glass and I believe uranium and will glow under UV

I think Neiger clasps were either the spring rings or barrel clasps that looked like this-

The green beads are definitely ones I've seen identified as Neiger. Can't vouch for the accuracy but have seen more than once. Tend to agree this necklace has been reconstituted. 'Neiger' scarab necklaces I have seen have been longer, more flapper girl.

The Neiger scarab necklaces I've had (2) were both hand knotted, much longer, and did not have any closure, just went over the head.

Possible someone restrung the beads as suggested. I do think older beads.

Agreed - there's normally a sort of brown or black "gilding" in the indents. Unless some fool soaked it off.

A nice long soak to get all that 'grime' off.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Neiger were designers, they had beads made by other companies, but they also bought ready made beads from those companies. Other designers used the same beads, which is why it can be difficult to ascertain if it actually is Neiger or one of the others.

Thank you all for your replies. I am looking to buy some more in an original pattern as it is more period for my collection. Do you guys know if these look authentic?
Yellow Neiger they are listed as, a more unusal colour and still have their gilt.
