Featured Is this cameo style pendant old or made to look old?

Unfortunately, I think my sense of smell is faulty, although I've never tried smelling brass. I've tried testing bakelite by rubbing my fingers on it, but I can only smell it when I run hot water on it.

 

So I tried the magnet test with interesting results: pendant and clasp stick to magnet, chain and little flowers do not.

 

That is interesting. It probably confirms what Bronwen said about it being rejiggered -- maybe using the brass parts from a 1990's Victorian Revival necklace that evelyb mentioned. And the cameo from a ring like mirana mentioned, but glued to the pendant?? The 14" chain is a little unusual for modern jewelry, but not unheard of -- I saw a new 14" sterling chain on Etsy.

 

After all the info and opinions from everyone, I am inclined to agree that someone cobbled together parts from different time periods.

Even so, it's still attractive. I used to cobble together odds and ends to make one-of-a-kind jewelry for myself.
