Featured Is this Lapis, thanks in advance

    I showed this to a friend who said it is Native American,and that it is Lapis and Malachite,It is stamped 975but no other markings, thank you for looking,and commenting brooch.jpg broochb.jpg

    could be azurite. malachite is found with azurite

    It 'feels' like sodalite to me. But this has a bit of age on it. Lapis has been used as a gem since antiquity; not sure when sodalite began to appear in jewellery. The only part of the stamp that is legible to me is an 8 between other characters.

    The blue stone could be either,the green stones don't look like malachite. A better in focus photo could help.

    Not malachite. Too pale, banding is all wrong.

    Charming brooch, and it has some age. Not NA though.
    Nancy, do you see tiny sparkling flecks in the stone? If so it is likely to be lapis, which often has pyrite inclusions.
    Are you sure it is not 980? If it is, it is probably Mexican ca 1930s.
