Hi everyone. I am for sure out of my realm on this one. I have no idea if this is real and if so what medium it is. It measures, not including frame, about 11.5 by 11.5 IMG_2955.JPG IMG_2957.JPG IMG_2958.JPG IMG_2956.JPG Pretty sure though it is an Italian scene. If anyone can give me any clues beyond that I will be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

It's Venice. Hard to tell from your photographs but appears to be machine woven. Can you post a photograph of the reverse?

I agree that it looks machine and modern. But without seeing the back and close up photos it is hard to tell.

Yeah, machine woven. I don't see any hand work. (But let's make sure others agree.)

Thanks, the back is sealed but I may remove it tomorrow. It's getting near my bedtime now and that sometimes turns into a project.

Hand work would have variability no matter how skilled the executor.

Does machine work designate between needlepoint and petite point?

Thanks everyone and thanks for saving me the effort of taking the back off. I’m am curious as to this sort of thing would have been marketed toward or appealed to originally

It's a decorative framed textile from the post-World War II years -- 1950s to my eye.

    Hi,
On the backs of woven things if you see stripes of color it is machine woven. If hand woven the back would be closer to the front.

What I was trying to ask:
If hand done, there is the ability to combine both petite point and regular stitches in one work.
If it is machine done, can the same look be achieved.
The reason I asked, to my eye #1 looks like smaller stitches than #2.
