Hi all! Picked up this pendant at auction recently, it was on a modern silver tone chain but I thought the pendant looked older (rather than the whole necklace being a more modern revival piece). When I tested the stone with my Presidium it's coming up as sapphire (woohoo!). The odd thing is, I have tested it for platinum, gold and silver and all acids seem to be eating through the scratches. I will have to test again but any idea why? would rhodium plating cause this? The only markings are some hand scratched numbers, maybe from the jeweler? Do you think it is Edwardian-1920s or it is it likely newer? I even thought it could have been part of an earring at one point. The pendant is 1.4"L, the sapphire is 0.5"L x 0.4"W. All info appreciated, thank you!
