    agreed, but maybe for Easter eggs? Ukranian-style eggs are made with a similar device.

    The Indonesian word for the tool is "tjanting". You can find more information on its use doing a google search using that term.

    Yes, a tjanting (old Dutch-Indonesian spelling), or canting (new Indonesian spelling), pronounced tyanting.
    Mine has a more rounded bowl, but this model is more common. (No, I haven't batiked in decades)
    It is used to make batik tulis, hand drawn batik, the most expensive type.

    Before the first dye bath:

    The last touches, after several dye baths. Before each bath wax is applied to make sure the right areas stay the right colour:
