Featured Is this the same artist?

Found this little oil on board 7x10 inches today at a table top sale. It is of Dunwich seascape with Church which is in Suffolk UK. I think the siggie says Saunders, and thought it may be this artist Alfred Saunders who lived in the county. He seemed to usually have signed his full name but I found two like mine signed with just his surname. Here’s 3 of his paintings. Any opinions about whether you think the painting style is the same and the signature. Thanks. @Jivvy what do you think? Sorry one pic keeps flipping itself sideways.

Thanks Bronwen. I recropped it which seemed to solve the problem.

 

All looks good to me for Saunders.

 

He was quite prolific, most all I found signed with his full name, even the small ones. Just a slight doubt in my mind because of this.

 

Sig and style look consistent to me too.

 

Think it matters more that choice of subject, style, palette, & as much of signature as there is are a good match with other examples. Not rare for artists to vary signature.

 

And his choice of subject matter -- East Anglian skies consistent as well. I agree.

It's always so helpful, when developing a critical eye, to compare and contrast paintings of the same subject by different artists. Saunders, an artist. Turner, an ARTIST.

I would think mine was painted from postcards and photos as Saunders would have been only 11 years old in 1919 when it all fell into the sea.

 

I think that's a valid extrapolation.
