Sydney Reynolds (used to be on the corner of Government, across from the Empress) was the agent and Birks sold it too.

    Hi,
This Moorcroft vase is by William Moorcroft not Walter , it's a salt glaze version of the freesia design produced in the late 1930's ,
The design was produced in various colours and by both William and Walter , but this is one of the earlier versions.
Hope this helps, drop me a line for any queries relating to older moorcroft items ,

ok, @Rob Churchill what say you about this vase of mine Rob?

it's a Pansy pattern pottery vase, 12", signed in green, ‘William Moorcroft 1912’.

I believe it is one of the first pansy vases ever produced.

    Oooooh, I love Moorcroft.
    Unfortunately, I don't own any.
Fortunately, I did visit the Moorcroft Pottery in 2019. Lovely stuff! I enjoyed a wonderful several days in the Stoke area and visited several of the potteries and became fascinated with the bottle ovens. Love your avatar @Rob Churchill!

Hi , yeah it's a beauty , quite a rare version of the pansy design , did you get this one from Waddingtons Auction a few years back ??

No, I bought it in a private sale aboutstill 10 years ago. It's from the transitional period when William Moorcroft was getting ready to open his own workshop. It may be one of the first large vases of the pattern as it was produced while technically employed at Macintyre ....although it has no Macintyre mark and no Moorcroft impressed marks, just the signature and date, 1912.

Nice one , probably made specifically for a certain customer as the usual pansy of that period had different coloured flowers , I've only seen a few different shapes in this colour before , a nice find
