This came into the non-profit yesterday from the back warehouse, and we were wondering about it. Our limited research was a dead-end, though we don't even pretend to play furniture experts on TV.

Any help w/ identification is deeply appreciated.

It stands about 37" tall; 16.5" x 14.25" are the approximate dimensions of the seat, and the legs are about 18.5" from the ground to the "balled end" - it swivels in a circular motion as well.

    Thanks!

Interesting piece you've got there. I'm going to tag a couple furniture folks for you just in case your post slips off the radar: @James Conrad and @verybrad

Looks like a piano stool. If you do an Google Image search for "antique piano stool with back," many similar will come up.

As others have suggested it is for a piano, whether stool or chair, and circa 1900. Wood looks to be birch stained to mimic mahogany.
