Featured Italian? Vase

The seller says it is Italian. What do you think? I like the shape of this vase.

 

The item is a fake. It has the look of an Italian piece but was made, mostly likely, in China. The logo is similar to several famous pottery marks, including the marks of Alfredo Santarelli, Ceramica Artistica Ciulli, and Arte Ceramica Italiana. This mark does not, however, exist. Furthermore since the 19th century both Italian law and U.S. Import regulations required that the country of origin appear on the piece. Finally, the form, known as an Albarello (drug jar) is incorrect.

Well, I'm glad it's a fake. That poor little fellow needs some serious corrective surgery!

 

Luckily we can't judge things to be fake or not on the basis of aesthetic criteria, otherwise many pieces; contemporary and not, would fail for not following "the golden ratio".
