    Good evening
Had this for a couple of years. A very ugly cast lamb...or is it?
If one look inside one can see its true beauty. This is a metal mould for a vintage/antique rubber toy lamb.
The prosses used to make this is super interesting. First a lamb was cast in a low melt metal (zink, lead?) Using the lost wax method. This sculpture was then plated with copper and then heated up to melt out the lamb leaving behind a mould.
Hopefully one day I will be able to make a silicon lamb. Any ideas are welcome.
I am not sure where and when it was made.
    Groete

Does it open to make it easier to extract a molded item?

No, I believe the rubber gets pushed into the hole, inflated like balloon and then sucked out through hole again...ok it sounds weird
