I just bought this online and don't have it yet. It's a faience teapot in an Iznik style. The final photo is a Cantigalli version signed with the Cantigalli cockerel but this one has a crescent and star. Does anybody recognise this mark?

It has quite old staple repairs.

The crescent and star appear on the flag of Turkey, and were first used as a national symbol by the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the 18th century. Perhaps your pot is not a copy, but a genuine Iznik piece.

That would be good if so.

As far as I know, Iznik teapots are generally round-bellied with 'regular' handles. Based on the following, I'd say it is Cantagalli.

I found another Iznik-style Cantagalli teapot, a different shape from yours, said to be late 19th century:

And a Cantagalli teapot the same shape as yours, but a different decoration. The description says it was decorated in a number of different styles. They date it as ca 1890.

Thanks. That’s my first thought. Just the mark that’s throwing me.

Yes, it is unusual. Unfortunately Walter Del Pellegrino, our Italian pottery specialist, is no longer with us.
Maybe ask the people of the That's Arte website? They are specialised in Italian pottery. This is the site: https://thatsarte.com/blog/

Nice looking pot, definitely has the Italian style to the body, strikes me more as early/mid 20th rather than 19th century in the decorative form. It's one of the Damascus patterns I think, the style of decoration was also used by the Jerusalem/Armenian potteries in the 20th century, I don't recognise the mark at all though.
