From same pile as pants I posted. I’d think later 19th century if I had commit to an era. I suppose could be earlier or also maybe early 20th is a possibility. It’s 39” end to end. I didn’t try it in but I’d guess for a lady or petite man.
I’ll check on that and take some photos tomorrow. I need to just put a little hook in the wall somewhere for photographing garments. I never have a good place to do it.
The deteriorated condition of the silk lining looks like weighted silk, which would date it to the 1870s or later.
That’s generally what I use but I’d like a cleaner looking more professional place to bang out photos of garments quickly at some point.
I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer that question. It looks pretty uniform so I’d guess machine or a combination of both. I can get clearer images of the stitching if it’s helpful.
That would be helpful. Machine-stitching is going to be regular. Hand, not so much. And sewing machines, although invented earlier, weren't widely used until the Victorian era. Debora
