This is for sale on a local site. I know nothing about this sort of thing (actually less than nothing) so it’s more idle interest than anything else. I particularly like the fishies inside but not sure that’s a good enough reason to buy it!!.
So what am I looking at please?
Thanks for looking and furthering my knowledge!

Agree, a fish bowl. Japanese style, but could have been made in China.

Famille rose will not give you the right results, it is used for Chinese porcelain with decorations in pink overtones. Famille rose porcelain is more valuable than this ware.

I wonder if it is Japanese Satsuma? I am not seeing the images that clearly - sorry!

Oh, you haven't bought it yet (I'm a bit thick)? Then don't.
    Does this help?

No, it’s on a local site and I was interested to know what I was looking at as this sort of pottery is a mystery to me.

    I think not :p

    I won’t :).

It looks like another of the Chinese made Satsuma style pieces, there seem to be a lot of them around at present. They generally date from the 1980's onwards, so not historic, just decorative. If you are going to buy just make sure you pay a decorative item price not an antique price.

Thanks Ce BCA I’m not going to buy, possibly might have done if it was cheap enough but I do like to have a working idea of what is a genuine antique and what isn’t.
    I appreciate all the comments.
I also considered how much jewellery I could buy with that money and the jewellery won :hilarious:

Haha yep I hear you. Jewellery, especially gold tends to be a fairly safe investment too.
