Featured Japanese Imari Style Plate - 19th C or Modern Copy

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Michael Gittoes, Aug 2, 2023.

  1. I am interested in whether this plate is a modern copy or perhaps 19th C. It depicts a dragonfly above a pond and shows it's reflection in the pond. The plate is 22cm in diameter and has marks/decoration on its underside. Any info about when plate was made and perhaps info on maker would be appreciated. s-l1600 (5).png s-l1600 (4).png s-l1600 (5).png s-l1600 (4).png

Don't know, but that's a nice plate. Wouldn't be surprised if it has some serious age to it.

Interesting plate. Imari plates are usually decorated in segments but this has been done completely different with familiar imari themes. My guess is latter part of 19th century.
