I have a small signed bronze piece which I believe came off the back of a Japanese Tobacco purse. It has what I assume a silver signed mount on it and was looking to see if anyone could give me any pointers on translation. 96894B32-4A33-44EC-978C-D7C5369B83AB.jpeg

I just did some searching via Google for a Japanese tobacco "purse" and did not see a single one with a "back" made of any variety of metal. They were all described (both individual ones and the generic descriptions of what such a purse is) as being made of leather. What would the 1 large and 2 small holes be for? And how do you know this is bronze?

Maybe back was not the best term. I think it’s this piece inside.

Well, that's certainly a possibility, INH, but without dimensions and with a picture that made it look much larger, I would never have thought to look "inside."

Brubaker - can you give us measurements, please?
