Jim Cook Art Photo-Any Info and Input, Please

I need help with a recent acquisition. There's plenty of information on the literature attached to the reverse of this phantasmagorical art photograph. Jim Cook is the artist and apparently his photos are computer-manipulated. I wonder if any of you folks have heard of him and his work. I'm coming up empty-handed with my online research for him or any comparables. Another question would be the validity of the $700 price tag. I do like it, "Dali Moth", but question its marketability. Any thoughts?

looks like the mat cuts part of the image off.....

 

my suspicion is that the artist had access to a scanning electron microscope for the first pic. many played around with these when the first ones showed up at universities.
