Yes, it is Balinese, or possibly Lombok Balinese. Lombok was a Balinese colony for some time, and there is still a Balinese cultural minority. With all-silver hilts it is impossible to see the difference, with other hilt materials are easier to spot. It is not very old, but very beautiful, well done you.:woot::woot::happy::kiss: It looks like it was never used, many people collect keris hilts as objets d'art (need a translation?:hilarious:), and many are made as such. I also have a few scattered about several rooms. The general type is called Togogan, which means statue (if I remember correctly, no research skills yet). Togogan hilts used to be reserved for the aristocracy, and worn with keris sheaths that were also reserved for the aristocracy. Your Togogan depicts Bayu, the God of the wind and teacher of Hanuman, the monkey general. Bayu is one of the most popular hilts. The nice (and confusing) thing is that he has been given a Javanese hairstyle, with that big curl. Probably to give him a bit more status.:playful: The fact that the usually inlaid cabochons round the base are executed in silver, makes me think your beauty could have been made in Lombok, but culturally Balinese. I have one silver Bali hilt, with pink tourmaline cabs (no pic yet:(). That is how Balinese Togogan hilts usually look, usually inlaid with gemstones or coloured glass. Below is a photo of four of my Bali/Lombok hilts to show what I mean. The three on the left are from Bali (including a gilt brass Bayu), with inlaid cabs, the one on the right was made a few years ago by a master carver on Lombok. It has a silver hilt cup with the cabs depicted in silver.
