Hello all, I just picked up this antique oak rocking chair at a thrift shop yesterday. It is a style unlike anything I've seen before! It definitely needs some work, someone began restoring it, as there is un-sanded wood filler in some spots and a few modern screws where there shouldn't be.

Appears to be oak, the seat appears to be laminated oak which is lifting and cracking in spots.

None the less, I got it for a whopping $19.99 and fell in love with it. Any ideas as to time period or possible manufacturer? There is no tag or badge on the underside anywhere.

    Thanks in advance!

Plywood is important to that, still old, but stand by for Brad and Johnny and more to help you. :)

Yes, I did notice that it is oak plywood. Not sure if that is original or if it was re-built at some point in time. Very odd piece, that is for sure!

I think that this is an old rocker that someone repaired with plywood.
The arms should have been Oak. The back may have had spindles which was swapped out with plywood.

The seat, stretchers, and spindles look like original oak parts.

Cluttered is right in all aspects. The original chair was circa 1900.
