Years ago, when I acquired this knife, I was told a name for the MOP-looking plastic that makes up this grip. It may have been a Kinfolks patent/proprietary name, or simply a generic for the novel material/process. I think it was something similar to the 'cracked ice' that shows in the center of marine mammal's ivory tusks.
I no longer recall that old descriptor, an' would like to be as accurate as possible in my Bay listing. Can any of you tell me what it's called? Thanks for lookin'!

Thanks, komo...the blade profile, an' its edge, are very good but there is some moderate rust-pitting, on the left face particularly, from long-ago neglect. Skillful polishing would remove most of it, but damaged it is. The name will help sell it, but I don't think it'll go for much...but go it must!

When that plastic is on guitars it's called "mother of toilet seat"... I kid not. It looks like bits of shell encased in acrylic, and at one point similar things were used to make bathroom fixtures including toilet seats.

First, it is Ricasso. The knife was made by Kinfolks Inc.

    That does sound familiar, thanks!

Somewhat similar in appearance, but quite different in hand. Thanks...
