    Hi all,

Does anyone recognise the mark on these lapis? Cufflinks

Don't know if it's a makers mark or not

    Circle with lines going through

The box states diamond cut, so thinking not original box

    Any info appreciated

I think the Mainz marks were 19th century and earlier.

They're 1960s or later cufflinks. Odds are that mark on the shaft is the manufacturer of the hardware and maybe not the whole cufflink.

    Thanks evey, that makes sense
A makers mark would have been nice, but I don't think I'm gonna get that

Same as with rings, I like these basic jewellery no frills designs

There must be a giff somewhere of some antiques guy who is long sighted, scrutinizing a hallmark at arms length :)

I've been calling that disease "Arms Too Short Syndrome" for years. One advantage of being nearsighted is I just pull my glasses down and read most marks. I do have to pull out a loupe for the bitty ones.

The Mainz Wheel was used as an assay mark in the 18th century and before, but some later Mainz makers used the Mainz Wheel mark (Mainzer Rad) because it is a symbol of their city.
The Martin Mayer firm is probably the most famous jewellery manufacturer who used the Mainz Wheel mark as their own, until the Mayer family left for the Netherlands in 1938.

Martin Mayer mark next to post-1888 German crown and fineness marks:
