Large Religious Antique Cameo

Ba ha ha ha...just got back from town. Sit down everyone, we're going for a ride. I took this cameo to 2 different places. Next town over is small so parking is crazy. So 1st I took it to the pawn shop. Worker wasn't really good so he tested it. Told him it wasn't silver. So he waited for the guy who knows something(one of the owners) he looked at it but didn't test it. Said it was heavily gold plated and worth maybe $30. Ok, said my thanks yous and left. Next stop was a well respected jeweler in town. They looked at it AND tested it. The metal is 18k gold. They didn't give a value but who cares. Now we are getting somewhere. Just threw it on my scale and weighed it as a whole. Went to a gold site and got a price...even rounding it down...worth about $400-450.

 

Just goes to show. Some pawn shop guys know their stuff and some are clueless.
