Large unusual andirons with odd little gizmo attached - need help

We used to have a wood burning Buck stove insert in our fireplace. It had a thermostat that automatically controlled the fan. It worked wonderful for over 20 years until the fan and thermostat died. Never could get a thermostat to automatically control the fan properly again. Dumped it in the '90s.

Instead of scratching, use a Magnet.

Composite. The pinwheel things are made from steel plate cut by either water jet or plasma cutter, controlled by computer. The front legs look like genuine forged iron. Pinwheels appear to be silver-soldered onto front legs, the joining method probably dictated by the dissimilar metals. Have no idea on the siren-looking thing, somewhat resembles the Martians' heads in movie "War of the Worlds."

That isn't a Martian,it's a "camera/weapon".

 

These look homemade, looks like 2 different pieces of something put together. If you are looking to sell them label them "Steam Punk"

 

I really like these. What do they measure across the pair?
