Owner (not me) purchased this on the notion it was Native American made. It’s over 16” in diameter! The form with the small base flaring to a large rim doesn’t look like any NA bowl I’ve seen. However what I haven’t seen could fill a universe. It does seem to have a decent amount of age. I could see it going either way but I’d probably lean away from NA if I was gambling on it. Photos aren’t good but they are what I’ve got. I can’t ID the wood. Someone that could identify the wood, could, if they would, end the debate quickly if turns out to be non native to the U.S. wood. Guessing the base is ant/termite damage? Opinions welcome. Anywhere other than the arctic I suppose could be the origin. Africa often seems likely to me in these situations.
