Featured Late 1800's Mourning Locket w/post-mortem tintype

    Picked this up at a local estate sale today. The picture inside on the right is a tiny tintype of what appears to be a post-mortem aged gentleman. The other image appers to be clipped from a CDV. Both images are covered with a sheet of mica instead of glass. The locket is engraved "Mary Henderson." Just wondering if anyone has ever seen mica used in place of glass before in these lockets?

    Could it have been made from leftovers from other projects?

    Not me either, but again, the case is beautiful. Earlier, when I was looking into daguerreotypes, one of the other members (?) was asking about mica being used... but I think he was asking about it being used for the dag itself, not as a cover for the dag......
