No idea, but she’s a beauty! Great subject matter too, can never resist a lady or gent reading myself. With that face I’d guess bohemian but cannot fathom who... early 20th century from the spare use of colour?
EDIT: Come to think of it, Germany was putting out a lot of beautiful half dolls and vanity figures then so she could be German, but I don’t usually think of German figures as so aesthetically organic. I hope someone somewhere finds her in a catalog for you :)

Really quite lovely, superb pictures as well, you've done her justice

Lovely little figure. I think she is German and the style dates her to the art nouveau period. Can't find another.

that looks like what's left of a mark to the left of the hole. Any chance of making it more readable like photographing it super-close at another angle or smearing it with coffee?
It looks like a fleur de lis does it not?

That's as clear as it gets unfortunately. Looks like an upside down anchor to me and there are lots of manufacturers who use that symbol.:sorry:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Beautiful -- I like the way her fingers are holding the book open.

Fasold and Stauch (German I think) made several female BUSTS figurines:

I noticed too, that she's draped like a classical figure. This really deserves to be called a bust.

Although I love it, it's the base that bothers and surprises me about this piece for being that old

Here is a better overall view of the bottom.
I suspect the elbows also play a part in what areas show wear.

Not necessarily, Her elbows could have been flattened to make the piece stand up.

In this photo the mark appear to be a set of scales.

It could be up-side-down. I don't think it was essential for the mark and the numbers to be the same way up.

This is similar in concept but not identical. Here's a bad Google translation of the description:

"Porcelain bust, reading woman, brand: Küchler & Co Galluba & Hofman figure, Art Nouveau. . Hello Ebayer, I am offering a beautiful porcelain figure, reading woman, Art Nouveau. The figure is made of marble-ceramic, looks like marble. Dimensions: L = 14cm, W = 14cm, H = 17cm. younger brand: Küchler & CO Galluba & Hofmann. The porcelain manufactory ceased to exist in 1937."

Does look better than previous pic

It's the shortness of the rim height and general thickness seen in hole that bother me

But i could be well wrong
