articketgrl1.jpg articketgrl2.jpg articketgrlm.jpg Pretty girl selling something, small 5x4, signed on back. Any ideas of age maker. I do know from prior research beveled mahogany panels usually are from northern Europe 18th-19th century. Not sure if this the real deal though. Bought with two other panels not yet photographed. Any comment welcome.

    Hey Trip,

Nice lil' piece. I'm not sure what the inscription reads, but your piece is oil on print laid down on panel......not 100% an original oil painting. These were produced in Europe, in the late-19th and early-20th C. most often after noted artist originals such as the piece below (oil on print laid down on panel) made after German artist: Claus Meyer (1856 -1919).

Nuff: thanks. thanks I feel like I have seen this the girl before, I suspected it was a hand painted over print.... off to figure value.

The wood looks like late 20th.C. African 'Mahogany' rather than the original Caribbean/Central American stuff, so I suspect this is a modernish decorative reproduction piece.
