Personally, would have serious doubt that your spoon is Austrian, can't see anything typical in the construction, engraving, or the stone setting that would point to an Austrian origin - would guess more likely Middle Eastern... Might note that the site linked is filled with inaccuracies, though the owner has corrected some over the years, and he rarely shows any marks. My last attempt to share correct information regarding a fantasy description resulted in slight changes that had little to do with the verified facts I gave him, his email to me stating, "Sometimes I make assumptions which turn out to be false." If the similar spoon shown does actually bear an oddly specific 1922 Austrian mark, would question if it's perhaps an import mark. Just on the 'European Gemstone Spoons' page he identifies a spoon as an "art nuevo" design created by Liberty, when it is a classic Scottish pebble design dating well before the Art Nouveau period, and a Brazilian flower basket spoon as European, an unidentified pomegranate motif spoon that looks Turkish to me (though Turkey is partially in Europe), as well as apparent ignorance of the German Jugendstil movement, and the inclusion of an American spoon because he feels it looks European. ~Cheryl
