#02.JPG #03.JPG #04.JPG #05.JPG #06.JPG #07.JPG #08.JPG #09.JPG Just picked this up today an thrift Shop. 6" High and 10" long solid wood. Weighs almost a full 2 pounds. Thought it was a buffalo but not sure. Has anyone seen one like it before. Or know where and by who it may have been made. There is absolutely no markings on it. The face is nicely etched. Also wondering about value to sell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bronwen. I wondered about a hippo but then I thought the mouth had to be wider.

It is very solid, almost like the metal is totally fused to the wood. I can't imagine it ever coming apart. Any idea on a value of it? I only paid 5.00 Canadian for it but found it really unique. Thanks KingofThings.

Thanks everyone. I agree that I think it is probably a bear. I just tried to researching it again as a bear with all your hints and still no luck. I appreciate all your comments.

I agree - I get a different idea of what animal depending on which part I look at. (Think of the blind men describing an elephant.) Based on the face seen directly on, I actually looked at photos of aardvarks & anteaters. Wrong tail & wrong snout. For me: side & rear views, hippo; face, armadillo (except ears are more hippo). Keyword: 'animal'. :cow:
