Looking for info on Asian 2 piece lamp

Discussion in 'Furniture' started by LorenzoJames87, Apr 30, 2020.

  1. 2 piece lamp, supposedly the shade is original.. curious on year and value. Having very hard time finding something comparable. Appears to be no make information on entire lamp. Any info is much appreciated, thanks!

Hello and welcome to the board.
Next time you post, if you click Full Image, your picture will show larger.

It was good to show the cord. I'm assuming it it is one of the newer plugs and the prongs are Not the same size.

Your lamp appears to be resin. My guess would be 1980s and later even up to today.

    Wait for other opinions.

Plaster? Seventies or so. Doubt the shade is original.

    Welcome Lorenzo.
I agree with cluttered, it looks like resin. The subject is Asian, but it isn't Asian made. Could be Italian.

Is that an American safety plug on there, or do both prongs look alike? To me it looks like late 60s to early 70s American or Italian for sale in the American market. The base looks like plaster. The lamp is an Asian figure with a Buddhist hand gesture, Chinese-ish clothes, and an Indian bindi on her forehead. I think she's just meant to be decorative. The red is a good luck color in that part of the world, and may be meant to resemble cinnabar. (if you found a piece of REAL cinnabar that size, of any age....$$$$$$ but this ain't that.)

  6. IMG_20200501_105620750.jpg Yes, it is resin. For what it's worth, the prongs are same size. Thanks for responses and warm welcome

I get a feeling she is meant to be Balinese. Big flower above her face, big earplugs, bare feet, dance shawl, wrap around sarong, Hindu-Javanese style necklace.
But since it is not entirely true to style it is difficult to say for sure.
    True.

She'd like a new shade, please; that old one doesn't suit her. I can see her with a black satin one or something similar; the one on her now is functional, but it belongs on one of those ubiquitous ginger jar lamps.
