Hello everyone! I'm not quite sure what I've got here. Nephrite? The vase stands about 5 3/8" tall and the cup is about 3 1/4" tall and 4 1/2" long. Any information on these would be appreciated since I know very little about Chinese carved pieces. I'm pretty sure the critter on the cup is a lion and that there are a frog and a grasshopper on the vase. Were these tourist pieces? Age? Are of Origin? Thank you!
    Don

Jade (and the different stones they call jade) are harder than soapstone and wouldn't show these scratches.

I've not seen soapstone in these forms before. So don't know if they are older or newer pieces.

Agree, soapstone. Made for both domestic use and export.
The one on the left is shaped like a rhino horn libation cup:

The other one is also a libation cup.

Need very detailed look to see if it is real or not. I cannot say it is soapstone. Possibly it is Nephrite or old jade. However, please use a magnifier to take detail look at the manufacture marks on the surface.
