Martha V Beggs married Vann S Elliott, they lived in Alabama. She studied portrait painting and at one point studied in Paris. I think it is possible that the signature is a hybridized Mrs. Vann Elliott. I was able to find a reference in Davenports Art Reference Guide and an example of her work. In most cases where I find artists with similar names in the same city I tend to assume they are relatives, in this case I think the same person. There is another example in the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, the image is protected and could not be copied. It is signed in a similar fashion to yours.
