Featured Made in Japan redware vase help with subject matter

    I’m thinking middle eastern, like Persia. Dunno for sure.

    They could be Persians, like kent said.
    Maybe influenced by early Chinese stylized images of Persians. There used to be influential Persian trading communities in China, and Persians were depicted in Chinese art. They also imported Persian ceramics into China.
