It is a crowned heart Mariasølje brooch, with trefoil dangles and silver gilt spoons to ward of evil.
The person who made this knew how to make beautiful jewellery, but who was or is it? It is marked the usual Norwegian 830S, the maker's mark looks like a J.
I can't find J in my lists of Norwegian silversmiths, does anyone have any idea?
Also, is this the style for Askøy?
    Thank you for looking.

Marks on the back of the heart. The 0 looks like a C, but that is just the punch, the mark on the right looks like a J to me:

Thank you anund, so the J is a V, for Voss. So it is a silversmith in Voss. Do they just have one, or more in Voss?

Edit: Just googled Voss sølje and found this for the style of the region of Voss.

The Voss style seems to be different from mine, where did you find the mark?

Every Norwegian silver sølje site seems to have the same sølje, even the reputable firm of David Andersen. And no one shows the maker's mark.
Someone is churning out sølje in every Norwegian regional style.:(
No sight of mine yet, but I expect it to be a bit older.

Thank you, that is a great help. I found their website. I had been there before, and it seems they are the ones who are churning out sølje and other wedding jewellery in every Norwegian regional style.
They don't make mine anymore, but I can email them to ask when it was made.
This is the mark, it is on their 'verkstad' (workshop) page:

The horn trademark is a 'J' for Bergen silversmith Leif Johannessen, who founded Sylvsmidja in Voss in 1940...

Thanks, Cheryl. J for Johannessen makes sense. According to their website they are still using it.

You girls & your jewelry  . I know nothing about it actually, was never able to wear any, not even in the Army where wearing dog tags are REQUIRED! I would put the chain under my shirt collar & tuck the tags in between my shirt & undershirt in front. I just hate the sensation of anything metal touching my skin.
It is pretty though!:) From a distance!
