I grabbed this today from the man at the market who breaks lots of things. I'm amazed it's actually in one piece because I rarely find any Maling without hairlines. Maybe it's something about the clay they used? I am trying to identify what it is and thinking perhaps it is a flower bowl that had some kind of domed mesh over the top that the flowers poked through? It does feel like something is missing from the top though, given the holes around the edge.

It has a number on the back but this doesn't yield anything relevant in Google.

Any ideas what it could be?

If that’s hollow, it’s a warmer which was filled with hot water.

Those holes around the rim make me thing a punch bowl with hangers for the cups.

Thanks guys. I will do a side profile photo later. Sorry gone to bed. Yes it does seem hollow. Pretty light for its size. What would it warm up Bear? Also I was originally thinking the four digit code defined the type of item but now think it is the pattern used on it.

I've found a 5508 which is peony. I'm guessing this one (5507) is chrysanthemum sticking to the same theme? Thanks for the link

It would have kept some kind of food warm, maybe porridge.

Ah that makes sense. I thought you meant a bed warmer and was struggling to get my head round it.

    Great find, Chin.
I think this is also a peony, rather than a chrysanthemum.
I get that you could be 2 cm tall, but 2 cm tall with knees that are 26cm wide?:jawdrop:

I have just googled peonies and I think you might be right. A client at work has some peonies and the petals looked more elongated. I will have to interrogate him.
