IMG_5651-compressed.jpeg I can’t make anything of this mark. Any ideas? Also, any other comments on the cameo or pin are more than welcome. Sorry, I can’t ever seem to get the pictures quite right. Thanks! IMG_5655-compressed.jpeg IMG_5652-compressed.jpeg IMG_5654-compressed.jpeg

Looks like it was poorly struck twice. These I mostly see as 10K or 14K.

Conch shell carving of the goddess Ceres (you can barely see the wheat stalks in her hair). Turn of the century into early 20th. She could use a nice bath. Just a drop of dish liquid in a small bowl of water, let her soak, and then use a clean soft toothbrush to clean the gunk out. :D

Thanks!! I was wondering how to clean her. Nice to know who and when as well. I was thinking it could be a gold mark. It makes more sense it being struck twice.

I had to look up Ceres. It’s kinda sweet to find her around mothers day.

For an array of cameo examples of this goddess:

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

AND on the left, just above the red arrow, it looks like it does say 14K, I cannot make out what it says in the middle, and it looks like some tiny writing/printing on the right....to me, that is too small for me to identify!!

You're welcome! I think it's also possibly only the top half of the mark which makes it look more like 14K to me, but you should test it to be sure. Definitely check out Bronwen's page about Ceres. :joyful:

These little pin stems are suuuuper small so they only ever have a gold mark when I see them. The other areas are probably micro scratches. The photo is so nice for once it makes them look interesting! :D
