That's in the original pictures. Looks like it was scratched in as a number for a sale or something? He said in the past it was a prototype for a hood ornament I believe he said for Lincoln? I don't really remember. But maybe it is a number for that? 20190729_111207-1612x1209.jpg

And this page gives a variety of sigs that include just MARTEL (no initials).

The earlier bonham link states: Jan and Joel Martel produced a series of such mascots for Robert Mallet Stevens, Voisin and Sizaire cars in the 1920's as special commissions.

    Wow, you guys are awesome!
That is a pretty cool piece then I suppose. What the heck, I guess with it being a hood ornament I could put it on the front of my truck?

Haha! I read once that ornaments/mascots pointy like this one were forbidden to install later (can't find the date now...)
They were deadly if you happened to hit a pedestrian!:nailbiting:

This one was a car mascot - a model they reproduced for sale? Kind of their thing.

So basically, someone would put it out as a trinket? Oh well, guess back in a box. At least I can write the artist name down on a paper with it. Not much at leaving stuff like this out for display, we have more the farm antiques.

I guess someone would probably enjoy it. Wouldn't even know where to start. I don't even know what to sell it for or what it's worth.
