Metal things, no idea of use

Hello, I'm hoping that someone has seen things like this before somewhere. I bought them from a rummage/jumble sale yesterday on impulse for a few pence, I thought they might have something to do with lighting but now I'm not sure as there's no hanger for them to hang anywhere. There are quite heavy too. I'm out of ideas. Both approx 7 ins diameter, aluminium one a tiny bit smaller. The segments all flip up for a reason??? The gold coloured one has a small stamp, British crown colony made in Hong Kong. Thank you.~

 

Ashtrays?

 

Possible Johnny, but they would need glass/ceramic liners. They are missing some element/s to make them useful. Those segments get held or have to hold something else in place.

Well, I would never have got to golf. Thanks very much, come to think of it there was a couple of putters in a bin underneath the table. If there were interiors they had become separated and probably sold as pet food dishes.
