Thx, yes I read that first time you wrote it. The unmarked bottom can be useful in dating the item by noting the degree of wear on that surface.

Pretty sure it is modern India silver plated brass.

    Welcome, Vintinella.
It is a tea caddy.:) It used to be plated, the style is Empire, but these were made all through the 19th century.
This is what our tea caddies look like as well here in the Netherlands, particularly in the north. Are you in northern Germany by any chance?
I found this 1970 silver repro tea caddy, German made;):

JMHO. inside looks typically post-1930s galvanized tole, be it brass or another alloy like Tombak. the hex nut would be very unusual on earlier pieces. the acorn finial is typical German.

    Hey, thank you!
Western part of Germany actually, very near Netherlands :) and it looks like almost the same.
When saying repro in gernany, that means reproductions from 2nd part of the century?
I'm just starting with his hobby so have lots to learn :D
    Thank you!

    Welcome again, neighbour.:)
In this case it is a 1970 reproduction of a 19th century piece.
Yours is old, it has genuine wear, it just isn't silver like the reproduction. It looks like it was once silver plate, like the one in the link 'i need help' posted.
