Military? Leather box

    Any ideas on its original box or is it just what it is- a box!
    Very high quality robust saddle leather which I plan to restore and use as it’s very sound if a little scuffed.
    Presuming missing a long strap which I can easily replace. The chap it came from thought it was military but I have no clue other than it’s extremely robust and solidly made.
    Love to hear your thoughts before I leap headlong in and mend it.
    10 inches across, 9 in high and 8 in wide. Velvet lined with block across the bottom.

    I think for carrying expensive bottles of say Chivas Regal or similar or glass flasks.

    looks military to me. possibly from a medical corps, for vacchine or other stuff. VGH ? V***** General Hospital/Health.

    Possibly not my dodgy strawberry wine from the village fete!. Not sure it's tall enough for a decent bottle.

    it Seems to be a fitted box for something. A camera or other device of some sort? I think those are the owners’ initials, not the makers’.
