Featured Mini Bible with Pulpit

    Hi,
    Just sharing my latest purchase, this cool mini bible with pulpit, still has the little magnifying glass in the back. Missing the little ledge on the pulpit, still in nice shape for the age.
    This was published in 1901. The bible is 1" x 1 3/4", the stand is 5 1/2" at the highest point.

    OOOOOOOOOOOH..................I'm still "collecting" minis for my model of Gram's NYC townhouse and having trouble finding stuff for the chapel.....................now I know what to look for...................

    I've been in the PROCESS of building it for 30 years! And it is NOWHERE near even recognizable as a townhouse.................... I recently had the thought that I will start a discussion about it on my "Memories" forum because I do have so many memories of the house.

    There was a bit of fad for miniature bibles around that time, often with silver covers. I have never seen a chained bible with lectern, though.
    A stained matchstick might be a replacement for the edge of the lectern.

    I was curious about the chain detail so I was snooping around on ebay - I found a couple of similar ones with the Bible chained to the pulpit. That surprised me.

    TDC, No, I don't collect miniatures but I do collect stuff so this will probably hang around for a bit.

    Am I the only person who sees that as a lectern? A pulpit is somewhere the priest stands, usually elevated, and may contain a lectern.

    Yes I see it as a lectern too, but googling pulpit, the god squad says "Pulpit is a raised stand for preachers in a Christian church. The origin of the word is the Latin pulpitum (platform or staging)."

    I just thought pulpit from days of going to Church and the priest standing in front of something similar, but lectern works too:)
