Picked up this little cannon in a “gentlemans curios” lot at auction recently and pre-auction thought it was a replica. Took it home and had closer look and noticed the rusty iron barrel inner and wondered if it was one of those starter cannons. Can't find any makers marks.

What do you think? Any ideas on dating/manufacturer?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Lovely pictures...
We have cannon brainiacs in house. Especially Mr. SpringfieldArsenal... I expect he'll be along.

It looks entirely repro to me. I think it would be dangerous to load it with a firecracker.

You're right. Besides - it's sealed on the back end! Where would you load it? Fantasy piece.

Barrel is 10.6" long, bore 1/2", weight 5.7lb. I would assume it could be loaded like a flintlock?

I still think toy, but wait for Springfield. If you think it's meant to be loaded, is there a touch-hole to ignite the charge?

I'd agree with fantasy item, and no way you'd want to try and fire it except maybe light a small firecracker and flick it down the bore. It is flimsy and shaky even among other fantasy/toy/decorator cannons.
